Snake World Privacy Policy
Last updated: September 26, 2026
This Privacy Policy explains how Snake World ("we", "us", or "our") collects, uses, and protects information when you play our game across Android, iOS, Web, and Desktop.
Moderation. We may remove a nickname, leaderboard entry, or account for abuse prevention, cheating, or operational reasons. You can report a nickname and hide it on your device from the leaderboard or the in-game scoreboard.
1. Information We Collect
Snake World is designed with privacy-first principles. We do not require your real name, email address, physical address, or phone number to play.
- Anonymous User Identifiers: We use Firebase Authentication to create an anonymous guest account (UID) so your in-game stats can sync without personal details.
- Gameplay & Profile Data: We store your chosen nickname, snake color, games played, and personal bests (score, kills, length), kept separately for Single Player and Multiplayer.
- What other players can see: Your nickname, color, and position are visible during a multiplayer match. Your nickname and best multiplayer score (and kills) are public on the Hall of Champions leaderboard. Single Player stats stay on your private profile.
- Multiplayer Session Data: During online matches, arena state (position, pellets, presence) is stored in Cloud Firestore so the match stays in sync, and is removed when you leave.
- Reports: If you report a nickname, we store your anonymous user id, the reported player's id, the nickname text, and the time of the report so we can review it.
- Diagnostic & Analytics Data (Android only): The Android app includes Firebase Crashlytics and Performance Monitoring. The iOS, desktop, and web apps do not include analytics or crash-reporting SDKs. Those builds send gameplay data to Firebase Authentication and Cloud Firestore only.
2. How We Use Information
Collected information is used to:
- Provide single-player and multiplayer gameplay.
- Maintain personal stats and multiplayer leaderboards.
- Detect issues, abuse, cheating, and improve security and stability.
3. Third-Party Services
Snake World uses trusted infrastructure:
- Google Firebase: Authentication and Cloud Firestore on every platform that plays online. Crashlytics and Performance Monitoring on Android only. See Firebase Privacy and Security.
4. Data Retention & Deletion
Ephemeral match data is cleared when you leave an arena. Profile and leaderboard records are kept so your bests and the public ranking still work.
Clear All User Data (Settings) deletes your profile, your public leaderboard entry, your live arena snake, nickname reports you filed, and the anonymous Firebase Authentication account, then returns you to the splash screen as a new guest. If you delete the app without using Clear All User Data, the anonymous id is lost with the install. Email jeffreyliu8@gmail.com with the nickname you used and we will remove the matching records we can still find.
5. Children's Privacy
Snake World does not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe we have inadvertently collected such information, contact us so we can delete it.
6. Security
Data exchanged with our backend is encrypted in transit using TLS/HTTPS.
